Folio 177: [Weymouth] to Stormont. [Referring to f.149], he regrets that he had not stated Britain's concern at the fleet now preparing for St. Domingo, as it will give countenance to the rebellious colonies by appearing to give protection to a trade supplying themfrom that island under French colours. The number of ships said to make up the fleet at Brest, to be reinforced from Toulon and Rochefort, if accurate, is scarcely consistent with the professions of Vergennes. He encloses copy of f.167, referred to lord George Germain.
Date and place: 1776 Nov 8 St James'.
