Le Brasseur refused and Macnamara sent an armed snow and 80 men, planning to capture him and threatening to fire on any ship opposing him. The snow appeared off the island, where 7 French ships, well armed, were waiting in the road. On other occasions the governor of Fort James illigally seized a long boat and also sent 3 ships into Albreda road to claim a dinghy.
