Folio 149: Stormont to Weymouth. Civilities were exchanged with Vergennes about Noailles. He conveyed to Vergennes the general contents of f.108. Vergennes accepted Britain's reason for arming and saw no reason for alarm by either country at the precautions of the other. Vergennes referred the behaviour of Macnamara to Noailles. Stormont did not see Maurepas, who has gout. He is delighted at British preparations.
