Folio 463: Lieutenant governor Macnamara to lord George Germain. The French are daily infringing British rights. A monsieur Monoron, director of the French African company at Gorée is waiting for a passage to England. He is no better than a spy. He has threatened to seize all English ships trading in places within this province between Fort Lewis and the Gambia river. Macnamara replied that he would seize all French ships in his province at any port except Gorée and Albreda, `at which he dared me'.
