Folio 222: St. Paul to Weymouth. He gives an account of an incident, when an English frigate, observing the movements of the French fleet on exercises, fired a shot to bring to a vessel, which she took to be an American trader. This happened between capes St. Mary and St. Vincent, very near the French fleet. The commander came alongside the frigate, ordered her captain to come aboard. A lieutenant went, was detained and then severely reprimanded.
