Folio 155: Bishop of Worcester to the earl of Guildford. Reports the arrival from Dieppe of an American sailor, who has run away from a freighter loading arms and ammunition at Havre de Grâce. The sailor reports many ships loading arms, which arrive concealed in packages from the interior of France. The ships are given clearance for Lisbon but are really bound for Philadelphia.
Date and place: 1776 May 23 Brighthelmstone [Brighton].
