Folio 120: St. Paul to Weymouth. Vergennes went through the paper from Pinto with Souza and himself [see f.92]. Vergennes suggested an amendment to the Portuguese offer of satisfaction, which St. Paul saw no reason to criticise. Souza said it had to be presented toSpain through his court. Vergennes hoped that, after the amendment, Spain would accept it.
