Folio 101: W. Knox [William, under-secretary at the American department] to Chamier [Anthony, under-secretary of state, southern department]. He reports the taking on board the packet Duke of Cumberland 3 French gentlemen sent by the earl of Dunmore [governor of New York province and Virginia] as prisoners. When the ship foundered off the isles of Scilly on her return from Virginia, one of these was drowned and the other 2 were taken to Falmouth. All papers were lost. He encloses f. 103.
