Folio 66: St. Paul to Weymouth. An intelligence source, on which he relies, reports orders to arm a considerable fleet in French ports. A committee attended by Vergennes, St. Germain, Maurepas, Sartine and Aranda suggests Spanish pressure on France to arm. He has not been able to discover what this meeting discussed. Various possibilities are discussed by St. Paul. St. Paul has reason to believe that French agents were in England, raising money for the rebels. Beaumarchais is involved. There are French officers, who have gone to Holland to take service with the rebels, and some, who apply to St. Paul to serve in America for the king. He encloses 5 military ordinances [missing here].
