Folio 54: Sartine to Vergennes. He informs him of the mission of the chevalier de Borda on the ship La Bussole and the ensign Puysegue on the ship L'Espiègle to determine the latitudes and longitudes of the Cape of Spartel and the Cape of Good Hope. This is in order to correct errors in maritime maps and the results, which will be published, will be of importance to all nations.
Date and place: 1776 Apr 22 Versailles.
