Folio 186: Instructions to the governor of Newfoundland. He is to prevent the British inhabitants from taking any exclusive possession of any lands, rivers or islands in the north of Newfoundland between Bonavista and Pointe Riche and from any actions prejudicial to the fisheries of the French allowed by treaty. In addition the governor is instructed to allow the French on St. Pierre and Miquelon to obtain timber from Newfoundland and to order all British subjects to behave properly towards the French.
