Folio 129: Stormont to Weymouth. The recall of Guines has aroused so much attention and so much support for him from his friends as to embarras the government. It appears that Vergennes had no part in it but the king insisted at the instigation of Turgot, who dislikes him, and with the participation of Maurepas. The queen strongly supports Guines. It is even felt that he could return to England. Choiseul's party hopes the government may fall.
