Folio 305: St. Paul to Rochford. Vergennes assured him that the French government was giving no help to the American rebels and that he could not believe that the governor of St. Domingo had agreed to send them powder and ball. Vergennes had no news of a Portugueseapproach to Spain and he had protested at Prussian activities against Danzig. St. Paul reports on further appointments at court and comments on complaints by French ships against British ships.
