Folio 297: St. Paul to Rochford. He is pursuing the case of Hyam Baronne. He welcomes the growing confidence of Vergennes, which is a barrier against Choiseul. Vergennes grows in favour with the king and Maurepas but not with the queen. The return of Choiseul is feared. The small fleet, on its return to Brest, will prepare again for sea. The court goes to Choisy early next month and then on to Fontainebleau. He refers to the queen's household and points of minor interest about the court and Spain.
