Folio 35: St. Paul to Rochford. The disturbances over the price of bread have ceased in Paris and neighbouring places. 3 or 4 ringleaders have been executed and a general amnesty published. But a spirit of discontent remains in some provinces. Du Muy wanted the troops to be withdrawn. Turgot wanted them to remain and the king supported him, as he has done on all occasions. There is disharmony among ministers. Changes are expected after the coronation. The duc de Chârtres is going on the exercises from Brest. Masserano leaves soon for England.
