Folio 22: St. Paul to Rochford. Vergennes has sent orders to Le Brasseur [governor] at Gorée to forbid French subjects from going beyond their limits. He also assured St. Paul that Spain intended to act against the Moors and that all was quiet in French ports. Theprice of bread remains high and troops are still on guard. There have been incidents in the country. Between three and four hundred rioters are in prison. Encloses f.26 showing how seriously the court views the crisis. The Parlement has Remonstrated against the lit de justice [f.18]. The arrangements for the coronation [sacre] stand and are enclosed [f.28].
