Folio 18: St. Paul to Rochford. Quiet has returned. Bread is sold at the former price. Soldiers are still guarding bakers' shops. The king held a lit de justice to annul a resolution by the Parlement claiming the sole right to deal with any offences committed by the rioters. He ordered them to be tried without appeal (prévôtalement). The proceedings were confused. Le Noir's conduct was blamed and he lost his place to Albert, head of the corn section of the controller's office. Maréchal de Biron has been appointed G.O.C. troops in Paris.
