Folio 277: St. Paul to Rochford. Vergennes will discuss Britain's protests about Africa with Sartine. St. Priest has asked the Imperial internuncio in Constantinople to ask the court of Vienna to treat Turkey favourably in discussing boundaries. Vergennes is thought to be totally subordinate to Maurepas. Muy has his own ground. Turgot has a great party against him. Calonne, intendant of Metz, wants to succeed him. The rise in the price of bread is attributed to Turgot and there was a riot in Dijon. He mentions rumours of Spanish arming and activity at Brest.
