Folio 198: St. Paul to Rochford. Reports talk with Vergennes, who reported an increase in the Prussian army and lamented the size of forces in the North. France has requested Sardinia and Tuscany not to aid the Corsicans. The Parlement convoked the peers to the case of the duc de Richelieu and madame de St. Vincent but the king denied its right to do so. 4 peers, named here, will represent the peers at the trial. The correspondence between Aiguillon and Guines is being printed and published. Both hope for an advantage therefrom. The king has appointed 7 fieldmarshals, the dukes of Harcourt, Noailles, Fitzjames and Duras and the counts of Noailles, Nicolay and Muy. He names those who are disappointed.
