Folio 160: Rochford to Stormont. Encloses copy of f.145 giving Shuldham's assessment of the French claims by French fishermen at Bonavista. Although parts of it are open to discussion, he is to pay the whole amount claimed of 43560 livres and at the same time ask Vergennes to settle the East India company's claim. He is to watch French and Spanish preparations, said to be directed against the Barbary coast.
