Folio 155: Stormont to Rochford. Vergennes asked if Britain could allot a new stretch of coast, where French fishermen in Newfoundland would dry their fish, as the stretch, where they were entitled to do so by treaty, was occupied by British. Vergennes also hoped that the interception by Britain of ships suspected of carrying contraband to her colonies would not extend to the West Indies. Stormont commented on how good-humoured Vergennes always was in discussion.
Date and place: 1775 Feb 22 Paris.
