Folio 178: Stormont to Rochford. The king, his two brothers and the comtesse d'Artois have been inoculated in the presence of a surgeon, who has been to England to learn Sutton's method. There is great prejudice against inoculation. He reports riots in the prison at Bisêtre, quelled by Sartine. Fleury, the procurator general, is suspected of having encouraged them, being an opponent of Sartine, and he has been reprimanded by the king. The chancellor, too, is jealous of Sartine. The king goes to Compiègne in August. The Papal nuncio is going to Avignon to take over from the archbishop.
Date and place: 1774 June 22 Paris.
