Description

Folio 219: Stormont to Rochford. Prince Louis de Rohan is to be replaced [at the court of Vienna] probably by Noailles. Rohan lived beyond his means and could not afford to stay. He felt he had lost favour with the empress. Adhémar succeeds Bon in Brussels. Bon hasbeen exiled. The correspondence of Broglie must have involved a project so evil that no punishment could be too severe. Favier burnt his letters, du Mourier's book of the whole correspondence has been seized. No Frenchman of fashion is allowed to visit Poland. He hears that Russia and Turkey will soon make peace without the intervention of any third power but it is generally believed that a new Turkish campaign is planned.
