Folio 194: Stormont to Rochford. Aiguillon told him, without comment, that the bill for removing the custom house from Boston had been passed. The Turks may begin a new campaign and are supporting the rebels in Kazan. The comte d'Artois is very ill. The marshals ofFrance have supported the ideas of the duc de La Vallière in Artillerie de Siège and of general Gribeauval in Artillerie de Compagne [see f.152]. The controller has a project affecting many considerable families to take possession of any château or estate, that had once belonged to the king, at the original purchase price. He describes Aiguillon's method of dealing with the army.
