Folio 145: Rochford to Stormont. The laws of France are unclear, which makes it difficult to follow a policy of reciprocity. Since miss Campbell is a minor, the king has an undoubted right to claim her release. Encloses a copy of the attorney general's opinion in 1766 [see SP 78/268 f.281]. Rochford asks for further information on a series of points. He is critical of St. Paul's neglect in not informing him about the case of miss Campbell earlier.
Date and place: 1774 Mar 11 St James'.
