Folio 27: St. Paul to Rochford. Reports about Ferrol are premature. No special news from French ports. The king is a Marly. Aiguillon reported Potemkin attacking Silistra. Aiguillon is preparing to succeed Monteynard. Guines' affairs are taking a turn for the better. He is supported by the duc d'Orléans and many others of high rank. Elie de Beaumont is to defend him and refute the accusations of Torr, his former secretary in England. If cleared, he will probably return to England. Spain anxiously awaits the arrival of the galleons at Cadiz, reported to be the richest ever. Spain is putting her land forces upon a respectable footing but her navy is in a contemptible state. Once in charge of the war office, Aiguillon will support the Chevalier project.
