Folio 121: St. Paul to Rochford. Aiguillon insisted that Harcourt had told Francès that Britain had made a tacit convention to give up the Falklands by degrees. St. Paul had replied that the Spanish ambassador denied this. Aiguillon hinted that Spain was ready to `let go' (découdre) and that Britain was ill-informed, if she thought Spain not to be able to take action. The conversations in ff. 117 and 121 were accompanied by sparring.
Date and place: 1773 Dec 1 Paris.
