Folio 117: St. Paul to Rochford. Aiguillon, in bad mood, said France had no intention of contravening treaty conditions at Dunkirk but he refused to order the suspension of all work and could not see why Britain refused to allow a French engineer to join Bramham. Britain showed ill-humour about every issue and was continually complaining about the African affair in spite of Boynes' letter to the governor of Gorée.
Date and place: 1773 Dec 1 Paris.
