Folio 55: St. Paul to Rochford. It is thought by many that Aiguillon's fall is inevitable, if there is a war, and that he will do all he can to avoid it. But the king is said to have been persuaded - probably by Aiguillon's enemies - that he must stand by Sweden. Russian claims remain unacceptable to the Turks. France is reported to be storing corn near Frankfurt and Cologne.
Date and place: 1773 Feb 17 Paris.
