Folio 44: St. Paul to Porten. He has asked Sartine not to allow Lehman to leave Paris until he has settled his account with Kandler. [see ff. 3, 5]. Reference to messengers. He will retain the messenger, whose name has been cleared, having no complaints against him [see f.17]. He does not fear comparison between himself and `that man' [?Massareene].
