Folio 36: Stormont to Rochford. Bienowski (Beziewski), who has been made a general by the confederates, is to raise 300 men, to go to Pondicherry and then along the coast [see SP 78/286, f.174]. There he can raise 500 sepoys. He will leave at the end of March. An unconfirmed report says that 3 regiments of regular troops are to go to the East Indies at about the same time, one each to the Isle de France, Isle de Bourbon and Pondicherry. The project by the empress to have a road through the Grisons is opposed by France, Sardinia and Venice. France has sent a monsieur de Créqui to Switzerland to counteract it.
