Folio 140: Sir William Young [governor of Dominica] to the earl of Hillsborough [secretary of state for the colonies]. He called on the comte de Nozière, French commander in chief, in Martinique. Both he and his predecessor, the marquis de Valière now governor of St. Domingo, have called on Young in Dominica. Nozière said he could not prevent private traders in the French islands from selling arms to anyone, who has the money but he promised to give no aid to the Caribs.
Date and place: 1772 July 28 St Vincent.
