Folio 293: Harcourt to Rochford. The chevalier de Fontaine, connected with the comte de Barry, who keeps his natural daughter, is in London, reportedly to purchase Canada bills, which seems impossible. It is thought he will attempt to `carry off' the chevalier de Morande to prevent him from publishing madame du Barry's memoires. Aiguillon said Spain's attitude to Britain had changed and spoke of France, Britain and Spain combining to keep the northern powers in order, which suggests that he is not on good terms with Vienna or Berlin.
Date and place: 1772 July 16 Compiègne.
