Folio 171: Harcourt to Rochford. Aiguillon believes Russia and Turkey will make peace as Turkey is exhausted and will have to agree to the independency of the Crimea, giving Russia the whole of Black Sea trade and enabling her to become master of Constantinople in 6 years time. Prussia and Austria are likely to avoid a rupture. The contributions the king of Prussia has raised in Poland have filled his coffers. The king [of France] has called for an extraordinary free gift from the clergy. He gives details of the church's finances. Encloses f.173.
