Folio 131: Harcourt to Rochford. Aiguillon said Turkey and Russia were about to agree to an armistice but thought Prussia would not give up her advantages in Poland. Aiguillon confirmed the equipping of two small squadrons to exercise the seamen and said that Boynes was intent upon his new plan to organise the marine corps into 8 regiments after the British model by appointing officers and men to particular ships. Harcourt had not thought it necessary to tell him that Britain had not adopted so absurd a regulation. The Portuguese envoy, de Sousa, is to be given the character of ambassador. Choissé, a French officer commanding a small body of Polish confederates, has taken the castle of Cracow and a considerable amount of stores and money, Encloses f.133. Aiguillon has asked about Britain's reaction in relation to light-houses to be erected by the Danes along the passage of the Sound.
