Aiguillon is very anxious that the French proposal for the settlement of the Canada paper business be accepted. He is averse to war. Encloses f.320. The chancellor may not be so averse but seems to be losing ground with the king and du Barry. Encloses f.315. (duplicate). He has someone known to Harcourt, who knows everything about Britain's trade and settlements on the river St. John [?San Juan, Nicaragua, see f.320]. Date and place: 1771 Dec 26 Paris
