Folio 283: Blaquiere to Rochford. Choiseul has been ordered to resign from the command of the Swiss Guards. He is to be given a pension, half probably to revert to the duchess. The comte de Provence is to have the command of the Swiss and Grisons, losing the Carabiniers. Aiguillon wanted the mutual abandoning of the Falkland, which he said Britain promised. This Blaquiere had denied. He told Aiguillon that the Sir Edward Hawke, incident would be amicably settled. Guines has been ordered to return to London. He will be at Calais on January 12th. Harcourt can arrange to return about the same time. 2 flutes have been granted to sieur de la Giraudé to make a trading mission to George's island in the South seas. Ternay has arrived in L'Orient to set out. Encloses copy of the king's edict about taxes and the king's reply to the Remonstrance of the Parlement [ff. 286, 287]. Monteynard has lost money to the navy at the expense of the army.
