Folio 266: Rochford to Blaquiere. He was right not to give Aiguillon copies of papers about the capture of the British schooner Sir Edward Hawke. An appearance of mediation by France between Britain and Spain must be avoided. Encloses letter to Grantham [about the Cartagena incident] and about another incident and the edict of 1727. Aiguillon's ideas about Corsica seem different to what he had supposed. The warning to Elliot about colonel Grant was an act of friendship. Blaquiere is to be very cautious, because of the hostility of the king of Prussia towards England, in any conversation with Sandoz-Rollin.
Date and place: 1771 Dec 2 St James'.
