Folio 174: Blaquiere to Rochford. He relates a conversation in a corner with Aiguillon. Did Blaquiere know that Spain warned that Britain's hostile preparations can no longer be doubted? He had denied this. Surely Aiguillon did not believe it? Aiguillon said he didnot believe Britain wanted war and he had told the Spanish ambassador so, but without effect. The comtesse de Provence has smallpox.
Date and place: 1771 Oct 18 Fontainebleau.
