Description

Folio 253: Harcourt to Rochford. Aiguillon spoke of France's desire for peace and of the part she had played in the dispute with Spain [about the Falklands]. Prince Louis de Rohan, coadjutor of Strasbourg, is likely to become ambassador to Vienna. Breteuil has beenpromised something but has not made himself acceptable in the courts, where he has been employed. The Spanish ambassador, very attached to Choiseul, looked graver than ever at the conference and dinner with Aiguillon. Count Clermont has died. The procurator general has clapped his seal on his effects, although the other princes of the blood guaranteed his debts. Walpole has arrived.
