Folio 223: Harcourt to Rochford. The affair of Guines' secretary may be used by Choiseul's enemies. It is reported that the garrison of Pondicherry, on hearing that the company [Compagnie des Indes] was dissolved, mutinied, plundered and left the town. The prince de Rohan may again become governor of St. Domingo, in place of Nolivos, whose unusual severity may have serious consequences. Foulon, intendant general of the army, where he was hated, is rumoured to be succeeding Terray. Harcourt renounces his visit to England. The Châtelet has resolved that it cannot carry on its functions, if the king would not allow it to deliberate freely. The princesses of the blood and the duchesses of Chârtres and Bourbon have been invited to the wedding of the comte de Provence but none of the princes are to assist except the comte de la Marche.
