Folio 162: Harcourt to Rochford. Reports running down of activity at Brest, L'Orient and other ports. The march of the Imperial troops from the Low Countries is reported countermanded. It is unlikely that the chancellor can form a new Parlement. He is still more unpopular because of the exiling of Malsherbe, president of the cour des aides. A later report mentions some Imperial troops on the march but some will remain to garrison towns in Flanders.
Date and place: 1771 Apr 9 Paris.
