Folio 57: Harcourt to [Rochford]. Asks for particulars of the Canada reconnaissances in English hands and whether the 20% reduction offered is a percentage of the real value, when acquired or of the nominal value and the amount in French money. Du Barry's credit has suffered through supporting Aiguillon and she is jealous of a girl, who has taken the king's fancy. No court can ever have had so many intrigues and cabals. La Vrillière is in the Aiguillon faction but carries no weight. Conde has the controller general, Bertin and Monteynard in his. He refers to other people at court. The king is as pleasure-bent as 30 years ago.
