Folio 268: Harcourt to Rochford. De Muy may not accept the war ministry. He lists possible candidates for the foreign office. As a favour to madame Choiseul the duke has been allowed to reside in his own government area, as he is governor of Touraine, where Chanteloup is. Harcourt expects a pacific approach from his successor and denies having listened to Choiseul's suggestions about mediation [about the Falklands]. Choiseul made no proposal to him but informed him of his approaches to Spain. Concessions to the Parlement are expected. A letter to Choiseul has been answered by the duc de la Vrillière, presumably the new foreign minister.
Date and place: 1770 Dec 26 Paris.
