Folio 258: Harcourt to Weymouth. The king, Choiseul and Choiseul's opponents are all averse to war. The controller has declared doubts about adhering to the family compact. The struggle with the Parlement is regarded as a contest for ascendancy in the cabinet. The chancellor, as a man of no principle, is the most detested man in France. It is rumoured that Choiseul is to be displaced in the next day or so.
