Folio 237: Harcourt to Weymouth. Choiseul urged Grimaldi and Masserano to agree to concessions but he may not succeed in his efforts at conciliation, as Spanish preparations for war are so far advanced. He refers again to Ferrol. French troop movements to the coasthave been slowed down by bad roads and broken bridges. Naval preparations proceed. France has asked Genoa to allow a French garrison into Spezia. Enclosed ff.241, 248, 251, which show a crisis in relations between the Parlement and the king.
