Folio 219: Harcourt to Weymouth. Choiseul was very perturbed that Spain's offer [about the Falkland] had met with difficulties. He feared that `this paltry island' could draw Britain and France into war. Choiseul's survival is at stake. He has heard reports of Spanish troops sailing from Barcelona to Cadiz and French troops moving into Brittany and Normandy. Clare's regiment is embarked for the Isle de Bourbon.
