Folio 171: Frazer to Weymouth. Because of the outbreak of plague in Poland all ships are being checked by the pilot boats before being allowed to enter harbour. He had been at a meeting of all local authorities and heard read a letter from Praslin. He has opposed the proposal to mount a battery of guns to prevent access without Britain's agreement, as being contrary to the treaties. It was proposed to put a chain across the harbour mouth. He describes other measures along the coast. He warns the customs in Britain that straw used for packing eggs or wine may be contaminated with distemper from cattle and should be burnt at once.
