Folio 155: Memorial on the subject of the fishery of Newfoundland during the season of the year 1769, delivered by the French ambassador on March 29th. The French have suffered injustices, contrary to their treaty rights. These are: the denial of the use of Bonavista cove, the increase each year of English coastal establishments in areas where both countries are entitled to fish, the absurd pretention, which prevents the French from fishing on Sundays and festival days, the limiting of the French right to fish to the one harbour, where the ship was first based, the seizing of a whale found dead in the sea, on the pretext that France could only fish for cod in those waters. It elaborates on each injustice.
