Folio 131: Châtelet to Weymouth. The false accusations about fortifications at Chandernagore are inspired by the anger of the British company at the French complaints about the unjustified behaviour of its employees in Bengal and their interference with French commerce. Nevertheless he encloses a letter to Chevalier confirming France's adherence to the treaty of peace. In return he expects Britain to issue similar orders to her subjects. The king has given full powers to Law to settle these differences. He asks Britain to appoint a commissary and asks for an immediate reply as the last ships leave for India at the end of the month. Encloses copy of f.121.
